So, I play lacrosse. I certainly haven't been recruited for it, I mean my team is DII so the chance of recruitment has always been nonexistent. Still, I'm a decent player. Something I am kinda considering doing at college, whether club or with the school team. I checked the CommonApp box that "I plan to continue this activity in college."

I had an ivy interview today, and the alum suggested I get in contact with the coach. More for the contact than anything, but also because I can get thrown into an unofficial athelee pool.

Whaaat? Other than establishing a contact, is there any way I can change my admission by contacting a coach and telling him I'm interested? I mean, can the coach do anything at all for me? I would think the athletic department is entirely independent of admission, unless an athlete is being formally recruited, but the alum led me to believe otherwise. I mean, could the coach put in a good word for me or anything? Just wondering how this all works.
