fellas. I graduated from high school in 08.. i took a year off to try my luck at professional soccer but injury ended the dream. i am going to apply to syracuse for the spring but my grades and test scores are beyond lackluster. Honestly i am the epitome of a late bloomer. soccer did gain cuse's interest, but acl made my decison that i will be impossible. SO, stuck with academics. I am a high income latino, so maybe racial quotas could help me out with my admission? lol idk what do you guys think? Waste? i know it is. but i hear from a family friend whom is on the admissions board at cornell and she says that they need all types of students and take low graders to fill quotas and develop them for future recigniation. but i think that is horse ****. Anyway, Thanks guys let me and please dont judge.. high school i was one of those jocks who thoguht it was cool to bail on school work and flirt with girls yeahhh fml now.. wish maturity could have kicked in

gpa-2.2 on 4 scale

SAT- yet to take

ACT-23

EC's- none soccer ran my life

CC will be my fall back and there grades and test scores will be raised

It may be different for your school system, but Syracuse has accepted people with GPA / ACT as low as 2.63/20, but nothing lower. If you can get SAT scores that area at least a 1500 and create a convincing sob story for your essay, you may be able to get in.
By sob story, I mean write about your expereince with soccer, persuing the dream, having the dream crushed, and what you learned from the experience (emphasize what you learned).

thanks yeah that helps a ton. i applied anyway what the heck. yeah my essay was deff a sob story soap opera lol… idk maybe i will be the first to get in with nothing? i just pray that the economy has hit them hard and people cant afford the tuition and they are desperate lol

scsoccer: make sure you look into both the college of human ecology majors as well as school of education…not only are they both easier admits at Syracuse, they always prefer to admit males (since females in those schools are in abundance)…
jw…why didn’t you apply ED?

Hispanic, accomplished in soccer and your family can pay? I don’t know about Syracuse but I don’t think you have to go to a CC. I would post this on the parent’s board with more info about what you’re looking for in a college for school suggestions.

i didnt apply early decison beacuse i was playing soccer heavily and taking some community college prerequsites to keep busy beacuse i had a future in pro soccer. so because of my injury. i grew up in syracuse and i love it there. its my 1 one and only choice…

hmom5 do you think that syracuse would be impressed with that aspect of my background? syracuse is all i want beacuse i have close close friends/family nearby and leaving home for the first time will be hard but i grew up in syr… so i feel more comfrotable you know? and i have great character and i am well rounded and have traveled the world dual citizenship with a third world country… i mean inculded this all in my essay questions asked in the application… i will be having a interview around xmas too

i had a run with the dynamo here in houston… i played in the academy and moved up and trained with the first team and reserves… lol trusty ol knee runied that scene

I hope you remembered to put soccer on your list of ECs on your app since you didn’t here. =P Other than that, I don’t know the school you’re applying to but best of luck! (:
