Abuse - Really dumb question

OK. This is probably a -really- stupid question, but it just came to my mind, and though I probably know the answer already… but just… is it a really bad idea to use abuse as your essay topic/discussion?

I think that depends. Are you comfortable writing about it? Did it kindof shape who you are today? Writing an essay about abuse could be tricky, but if you write it well it could make you stand out alot and show who you are. Also, if it isn't you who was abused then maybe I wouldn't write about it unless it shaped you indirectly. Anyways, good luck with it!!!

I agree with armo1 that it depends, but I would advise against it.

I think you should be very careful. You really want to use the essay to show yourself to best effect possible, especially your character, personality or talent. Is the subject going to demonstrate what you're all about as well as another subject?

If this is the dominant thing on your mind (and it could appear so if you chose this topic), then it is possible they may think you are not ready for college and need to address your personal issues first. Not to say that abuse isn't the ignored epidemic that it is, but if it is running your life, say, then that's another story.
