Do colleges like to see ACADECA/how much would it influence their decision?

We called it Ac Dec at my school. I did it for six years (well academic pentathlon in middle school) and at least two liberal arts colleges commented on my involvement/ performance in their admissions letters. So I guess Academic Decathlon is a good way to show colleges that you like to apply academics outside of school. Granted, I also did the activity for six years and received numerous medals so the commitment rather than the actual activity may have impressed them.

I will say that of the A students on my academic decathlon team, one is at Princeton, one is at Harvard, and the third is at NYU on a huge scholarship. These students also had top grades in the most rigorous courses, participated in a number of extracurricular activities, and had absurdly high test scores. So maybe Ac Dec didn’t play a role in their admissions. Btw, the Harvard and Princeton students had also done Decathlon for six years.

@whenhen Thanks, but what if I only do it for two years… should I not bother?
