Academic Achievement Program

<p>For those who haven't gotten their info in the mail and are clueless about the Academic Achievement Program, I just got the information in the mail. it basically means, go to summer school with UMCP or you're out; and you got this because of not-so-hot grades or SAT scores, but they still want you.</p>

<p>"...an academic summer bridge program that offers prep experiences and support for the purposes of being recommended for Fall admission to UMCP. To ensure fall acceptance, the student must earn, during the STP, a gpa of at least 2.5, 85 points in class labs, maintain good attendance, and have a positive attitude toward learning experience."</p>

<p>It will be held July 15, 2006 through August 25. Six weeks. </p>

<p>"Each student will enroll in a 1 credit college orientation class, 3 credit CORE course, tutoring, and skills enhancement classes in math, English, and study skills. Indiv. and group counseling are offere dto assist a smooth transition from HS to theUniversity."</p>

<p>It costs 1208 based on last year's figures, and 867 for room, 400 for meals. telecommunications is 26.28. vehicle registration for commuters--38. changes to fees are possible this year.</p>

<p>they don't provide fin aid but work closesly with the off of fin aid to ensure consideration for financial awards. </p>

<p>that is great! Its no big deal. just take a class over the summer and the other class will be a college survival type class that preps you for college. This is as good asa getting in! Good luck guys and I hope to see you at Maryland.</p>
