Academic Advisor

Anyone actually have an academic advisor assigned to them yet? If so, please explain to me how you got your academic advisor.

S has not received any notice of an advisor. He registered yesterday without an OK from anybody.
I remember mcgilldad and others saying that advising was fairly non-existant until declaring a major at the end of your second year.

Ok, because I called McGill and they said that we would be assigned an advisor, Im not sure when. I think that we must go through the course approval form to get an advisor. I think I'll just give them a call after the weekend.

just a somewhat related question: Can you sign up for classes as soon as you're accepted?

I'm currently wait-listed (oh the agony) a status I'm told can go on till the first week of class. So my question is do you have to wait or mail something to the school before being able to sign up for classes or is it just a question of a few clicks and then making your schedule?

Thanks in advance,

wow...ur still on waitlist? is thtat even possible? where are u from? as for ur question, im pretty suree u can, cuz by aug 2nd, everyone is allowed to register

I know...it sucks. But im from right here in mtl and already registered at concordia (trying to transfer to mcgill though) so if they do unwait list me at some point (not too confident as it stands) it poses no problem for me. Just a few clicks and one metro station away.

But from your acceptance email/letter to your schedule-making; did you have to fill something or do something in between?

Not that I can recall, no. There's not much help that they provide, so I think that if i remeber correctly, I just was accepted, then looked through the course calender, got some advice here, and registered for courses.

yeh dont even bother going to the advisor...i still havent been to one and i am in my third year this comming sept.

look in the course book...pick ur courses...make sure u meet all the requirements
