<p>Many colleges require 2 teacher recommendations from 2 different academic areas of study. I've been thinking about getting my band teacher to give me a recommendation. Is band considered "academic", or would the rec have to be from a core subject such as math, English, or science?</p>
<p>You really want your main recs to come from one of the five cores - math, science, humanities, English, foreign language. Band would make a good third rec if it would add anything the other teachers don’t cover or you’re intending to major in music.</p>
