In order to get the cheap fares on Southwest Airlines I’ve already booked flights in and out of Birmingham for a campus visit on October 12. Belatedly, I realized that this is Columbus Day and that the campus might be closed in observance of the holiday.
I checked the online 2015 academic calendar and do not see that day listed as a holiday. However, the holidays that are listed are very sparse and now I’m worried that I’ve messed up our plans.
I did check another website for the State of Alabama and I do see that day listed as a state holiday. In our state our public universities observe every state holiday. Unfortunately, because it is not considered a state holiday in our state I just assumed the campus would be open.
Could anyone with knowledge of this situation confirm if the campus will be open on October 12?
