This is a very basic question, and if it's been answered elsewhere, please just direct me to where I should look.
I've looked at the academic calendar for the coming year, and I've started to think about travel arrangements for the winter recess. When the calendar states that winter recess begins on December 20th, does that mean that it begins after the last class or obligation on the 19th and that most students leave campus on the 19th?
Likewise, when the calendar indicates that winter recess ends on January 1, does that mean that students need to be back at a certain time on the 1st? Would students return to campus on December 31st so as to be on campus at the start of business (??!) on the 1st?
It's a mighty short break, and I'm trying to figure out if it's a day or two longer or shorter than it looks.
Thanks for any help or other advice about planning travel for winter recess.

Go to the breaks section.

Thanks. I guess for freshman year, we'll just wait till my daughter's schedule is set and she gets a look at the syllabus for each course.

That's probably the best. It apparently depends on what kinds of professors we get.
