Hey, some of my friends and I would like to know about possible academic competitions we could compete in to spruce up our college apps. We're all juniors right now, so it they have to be from now until the end of this year. One possible competition we found was the USAMO math competition that requires the AMC and AIME tests to qualify, but the tests are pretty soon and we don't have much time to study. If anyone knows of anything that we could enter (preferably as a team, but solo is fine) it would be great.

the AMC and AIME tests, even with studying, are extremely hard! So unless you are absolutely-absolutely amazing at math, then its really hard.

There are science olympiad competitions.
If your school has an FBLA club, then your state will put on a Business Skills Day...
There are national language tests
Speech and Debate

Don't expect to be able to do well on the AIME at without a lot of preparation. It's a great competition, but if you're just trying to spruce up your resume, it's not likely to be very lucrative.

If you're good at science, I belive the USA Biology Olympiad and the USA Physics Olympiad tests are coming up fairy soon. Neither is as competitive as the math olympiad, but they'll still take a significant amount of work to do well on. You can google them and talk to your school about offering them.
