Academic crisis! PLEASE HELP ME !

sorry for the repost*

Hello all,

Forgive me not introducing myself, but at this moment I am in the need of all the help I can receive. If I can take a moment to explain my situation, I am a heop student at a university, this is my sophomore year, but however I have been sick all of freshman year and along with this semester, along with my medical sickness and other extenuating circumstances at home I have suffered greatly at school. My GPA was compromised last year (2.5) because of family related issues and this semester it has because I have been ill. A I’ve been dealt a hand huh? I am failing four of my classes, science classes that of the pre-med course, because they all interrelated I am getting four F’s. the only bright side to the F’s is that I can retake the courses and the new grade will be factored into my gpa. but I cannot afford the new gpa with the given 2.5 and the this semesters gpa of 1.0 I am in danger of jeopardizing any chances of admission to medical school, regardless if I have an excuse or not.

Now,

My best bet is to either transfer schools or apply to a new school as a freshman. However, I cannot afford to transfer to any school and can only do it in the means of heop funding.

I came from a public highschool in a less affluent neighborhood. I didn’t not receive the proper education I sought for. I have a gpa of 85 and a sat score of 1400/2400. because I am economically challenged and lack the proper grades I had to enroll school through heop. I have to leave my current college for a new one.

My question is, will my stats be good for

A school like cornell, Columbia or nyu?

I am a very intelligent person, through my life ive been told that I have the qualities of a genius but lack motivation. I have a story to tell and a lot to offer. but my problem is I don’t know what to do.

Any advice ? anything would be appericated.

I want to know if it I can apply to such schools with my stats, but if I apply

Should I apply as a new freshman?

Or as a transfer student?

PLEASE HELP =(

1000/1400?
As in 1000/1600 and 1400/2400?
Geez, I know the SAT doesn’t measure intelligence and all…but I’d expect a person with the qualities of a genius to at least get a 2000 on his/her first try…

i know grades indicate everything, is just that i didnt care to study i didnt care to go to college at that point, until i finally got settled down i realized what a proper education can do for me. i know i am a late bloomer, but all i ask is for your advice !

Your SAT won’t do well for, even if you have been called “a genius;” many people can sit the SAT without studying and still score above an 1800
Those schools are far far farrrr out of your reach. I think you should transfer into a comm. college as a freshman and restart, and really make a solid effort to get the grades and get involved; when you have proven you are a solid student, then try going for some higher level schools.

Edit: also, colleges don’t like to hear about “genius who lack motivation.” It sets you up as a weak person. They would prefer a highly motivated but maybe less intelligent person because motivation and amibition are great qualities. Brains are nothing if you don’t use them.
