The Story
So in one of my classes which the teacher never takes role, we had to turn in a worksheet about two months ago worth only a few points because there’s only 3 in class worksheets the whole semester and missing one brings down my grade nearly 4% by having a 66% in the in class participation category. I had a friend bring me an extra copy the next day and only last week did I talk to the teacher about it and ask if she may have missed my grading and handed it to her. Next class period she talks to me after class and says she will be giving me a F in the class and Academic dishonesty report form was submitted to the school dean.
My question is if I appeal what are the chances of success? I’ve looked at the past worksheets and she leaves no markings at all on them.
I don’t really understand what you did. You asked your instructor about a missing grade for work you didn’t do and then showed her a worksheet that you claimed you had submitted and she had graded? But actually you had never submitted it but you wrote your own grade on there?
If your class participation grade went down 4% for this and it’s only a 66% after the 4% grade hit, you had a lousy participation grade before you tried to pull this over on the prof - like bordering in <70%. I’d argue the 4% didn’t hurt you that much and something else is keeping your participation grade down.
I’d put your chance of having it overturned as very close to 0%. This is not something profs mess around with. You will be on a very short leash from this point forward. Hopefully you understand this and proceed accordingly.
What difference is that supposed to make? Are you trying to justify the fact that you cheated?
So, are you trying to blame your decision to cheat on the fact that, in your opinion, she’s a lousy teacher? Because being an entitled little cheater is never a good look, especially in an appeal hearing.
His class participation went down 33% because he stated that they only have 3 assignments a semester. It’s his total grade that went down 4%, not the class participation.
Rest of your post still stands and I agree with you; I just wanted to correct a misunderstanding.
No suprise, @MaineLonghorn . OP didn’t hear what he/she wanted to hear. Not sure what was expected - most CCers take a very dim view to cheating or aiding people in the attempt to get away with it.
