I was recently dismissed from my college because i didn’t reach the required gap of 2.0. I currently have one of 1.45 and i’ve spent 2 semesters in my school and taken 24 credit hours but only earned 18. I was given a chance to appeal. In my appeal i explained that i have chronic insomnia secondary to generalized to anxiety disorder and superimposed depression. I also wrote that i visited my family doctor at home after my first semester but he didn’t know what was wrong and wasn’t able to give me a proper diagnosis. I also wrote that i have since seen a therapist and was just officially diagnosed. I have medical notes from my family doctor stating i came to see him after my first semester and one from my therapist stating my condition and what has been done. What else do you think i can do? And do you think i stand a chance?
I’m sorry for the challenges you are experiencing. Beyond the circumstances of your struggles, I think the most important aspect of your appeal is to explain and provide specifics on your plan to improve your academic performance and mental/emotional health.
I provided extensive plans in what i would do differently if i was readmitted. i was just wondering if my circumstance is extraordinary enough to warrant the acceptance of my appeal
The obvious question is whether you should plan to take one semester off, get your illness treated effectively, and then restart your education when you are stronger (possibly next fall). I do know of some students (children of friends) who did this and were much stronger students with appropriate treatment and after some time off.
i already sought out appropriate treatment and i’m sure i am ready to start schooling again. do you think they’ll accept my appeal?
