<p>I'd like to ask you all (who have more life experience than I, and could provide me with sound advice) to give me your ideas and opinions on what to do next.</p>

<p>Obviously you need to take a break. Basically that is what a college is saying to you when they tell you not to come back. Depending on who and how your college was financed you may need to take a break anyway and start working and saving your own money for any return. You may have a very different perspective in a year or two and you will be that much closer to being 24 and financially independent if your parents have cut off any more money toward college. I’ve posted before but our friends had a son that graduated high school at the very tippy top and was accepted to an incredible college and managed to fail out despite some strings being pulled to get him back for a third semester (where he promptly succeeded in again earning lower than a 2.0). He worked for three years before returning to a different college that was willing to give him a chance, worked and took a few classes at a time and when he turned 24 returned full steam for the last couple years graduating magna cum laude. 50% of kids that start college never finish. That does not need to be you, but you need to take a break and figure out what is important and how to get the balance you need to succeed. You need to fix that first before you try college again. There is nothing shameful about this. It just is what it is. Many kids are not ready for college for many different reasons. Clearly you were not…so take a break.</p>
<p>OP - definitely take a break, find a job and get your feet under you. Later on you can decide if/when/how to finish your degree - or a slightly different degree if that seems best somewhere down the road. I would suggest that if/when you go back you look for a school that is not on a quarter system, I think you will find the semester system easier to work with should life deal you any new additional problems to take into consideration.</p>
