Academic Disqualification

I’ve only taken one quarter so far since I’ve just started here, but because my fall quarter grades are below a C, I think I might be at risk for academic disqualification. I worked so hard to transfer over here from a community college, yet now I might be kicked out because I did not do very well in my classes. I think it might be because I’ve been having trouble focusing, and because I’m still trying to get used to the quarter system. I have already scheduled an appointment online to see an advisor immediately once winter quarter begins, but will they give me another chance to pull my GPA up?

I think since this is your first quarter and you’ve obviously never gotten less than a 2.0 at Davis before you get put on academic probation and you have to bring your gpa up in winter and if you still don’t do well then you get academic disqualification. I’m sure it has all the details somewhere on the website

it’s not just less than a 2.0–it’s less than a 1.5 since my grades are D’s and F’s. Ugggghhh.

Whether you get a second chance will depend on how lenient your particular college is after you explain yourself. There were a few people from my dorm area last year who were kicked out after their first quarter because their GPA was below 1.5 (but then again, these were the same people who prioritized parties and getting high above academics).

They should allow you another quarter on “academic probation”. This will give you a chance to up your game.

Well, whatever they decide to do, I have started typing up an appeal letter explaining my faults and what I could do better next quarter to rectify my GPA if they do end up dismissing me.

What major are you in?

You might be at risk for academic disqualification. I don’t think they would kick you out after one quarter though. Seems kinda harsh.

@CCkid1234: History. But I didn’t take any actual history courses since the ones I wanted weren’t offered in fall, so I took classes to complete my GE instead.
