Hi, making this as brief as possible

first quarter i got a 2.0 gpa, second quarter i might be getting a gpa lower than 1.5, which will result (from what it says on ucsb page) on academic disqualification

anyone has gone through this, do you get disqualified immediately or they give you a chance to talk in person (without getting disqualified), is there a way i can stay for next quater? i am really ashamed of my grades and scared of the consequences, can someone tell me what will happen?

thanks in advance

Call the office of admissions asap… They’re the only ones who will give you an accurate answer

winky, I think this person is a current student at UCSB.

To the OP: You should not be posting here. You should be talking to a counselor at UCSB. If you are a student in Letters and Science here is the info - [Academic Advising - Letters and Science](http://www.duels.ucsb.edu/advising/contact) If you are in Engineering or CCS you can find the appropriate contact.

A counselor can help you understand your options. You are by no means alone in your predicament; a number of frosh have a bit of a bumpy adjustment, so the key is figuring out what happened and what you need to do differently.

You are losing time (and the possibility of alternative solutions) the longer you wait to initiate contact with someone who has the actual authority to do something. You seem to be taking a passive approach here “can someone tell me what will happen?” as if the outcome is fixed and inevitable. It is not, but if you just wait to get a letter from the school it very will may be. Call and set up a meeting today!!

And I’ll chime in with some general advice. As you’ve probably noticed by now, the burden of running your life at UCSB is on your shoulders. When the TA passed back the midterms or papers in those classes you are not passing, they did not ask you to stop by and chat with them. Nor did the prof send you an email. Which doesn’t mean they don’t care. They likely do, and your TAs especially can relate to being a frosh and may be very willing to give advice and assistance. As they so aptly put it in one of the handbooks for parents, " Regardless of how advising is structured, students must take the initiative to obtain assistance." If you wait for someone to notice and reach out, you’ll be waiting forever. This applies to academics, career counseling, life in your dorm, you name it. At a large public U there are many resources to help, but they only make a difference if you seek them out.

thanks for the advice, i will call today

I wanted also to know if someone had gone through the same thing as me and being giving a second opportunity because is academic disqualification if gpa is lower then 1.5 and im really worried

Any updates? What did they say?

I hope you can work this out.
