Academic exploration at CMU

I've been accepted to the college of science, and I'm wondering if it is possible to take some classes in the other colleges??? is it easy to explore courses from different colleges or are there many restrictions?

I'm wondering about this too, except with CIT. And can I switch majors (either within a college or into another college) once I've declared?

You can pretty much do whatever you want. You can take any class, although majors get priority if it's a popular class. You can switch majors at any time. It's quite easy within CIT (I think). You will need a certain GPA to qualify for a major/college switch and you just need to fill the course requirements to get a major.

As cmonyuk said, it's pretty easy to take courses in other schools. The only exception would be some things in CFA, because they sometimes have waitlists twice the size of the class. I'm a CS major who has taken spanish and psychology classes without any trouble. It's also super easy to take physics classes- generally, even if the class is overenrolled, they'll just move the room and let everyone in. TSB can be a bit of a pain because they have some classes with requirements like "must be a junior," which can be a pain if you have the pre-reqs and want to take it, but they won't let you in.

Thanks for the replies..........I was also wondering is there a limit to classes you can take outside of your college?

Nope. 10 char
