Academic honors!

guys i need some help.

I have to list my Honors, and i am confused if clearing RMO and Physics Olympiad at the Regional Level is of any worth??

I have a NASA Scholarship.
I hav bagged award for excellence in computer science for 3 years in a row at school.

I was 107 at NSO.

how do i frame all of these to the best?

^these are all useless awards. Don’t mention them at all. Adcoms won’t care.(lol)

:D

lol
They will care. This is great.

Hahahaa useless indeed! =P

Yes Yes … absolutely worthless …

After all… who doesn’t get a NASA scholarship… Who doesn’t clear RMO and Phy olympiad…

This website is very intimidating …

BTW fray, ur SAT scores??

Exactly my point, compscifan!

I’m wondering if “thefray” started this thread just to have a little fun.

@the fray - Out of curiosity, does your username refer to the band?

Except probably the NSO, all of the other achievements are worth mentioning.

I a-g-r-e-e.

Forgive my ignorance, but what is NSO?

Guys guys guys! Easy. I am struck with some pathetic net connection issues so i am late in replying.

Ah come on, just tell me!! Is it worth mentioning? You guys are confusing me!
At nationals i got a 97 AIR in maths (the topper was also from my school, argh :P)
and 55 in Phy, both last year.

About the name : well, yes and no both. Cool a name, isn’t it ? ;)

@ivycollege : my subject scores. Maths 2- 780; Chem - 740. Phy- 700. (they ask for just 2 of them right? please say yes :stuck_out_tongue: !! )
SAT Reasoning - 2140

I came second TCS IT WIZ at kolkata this year, so i put it as ‘academic’ in EC section?

Nso- national science olympiad

You’ve cleared RMO and the Physics Olympiad at the regional level and got 780 and 700 in your Subject Tests?

This seems like a ■■■■■ thread.

There is no official physics olympiad at the regional level. The first level is NSEP.

^Out of curiosity, are you an Olympiad medalist, debarghya9?

Nah, not yet. I have worked considerably hard for NSEP/A and RMO though.

Best of luck then!

But why have you worked so much for them (if I may ask)?

^Because I love Math/Physics :). There is no other way to let people know that I’m good at it. As I self-study everything, it becomes a little overwhelming sometimes.

Thank you Saxena!

Self-studying Olympiads? You wouldn’t happen to have a couple of Nobel prizes in your house now, would you?

Anyway, am I right in assuming that your Olympiad results will not help you in the college application process? I mean, they won’t come out in time, will they?

(I do not know anything about Olympiads, except that they’re way over my head).
