Hi guys! I have another quick question. In the section in the Common App under Education called “Honors,” it says to list any of the academic honors you have received in high school. I understand that Honor Roll is considered an honor. Besides that and things such as national merit and national honor society, what are examples of things that could be considered honors? Thanks.
I also put that I was student of the month (nominated by teachers) twice and placed at a state competition for a school club I am in, so stuff like that if it helps.
Wouldn’t club stuff be part of extracurriculars?
I don’t think it really matters that much. I’m putting academic club awards (ex. debate or science fair), but not sports-related awards.
Anyone else agree/disagree or have any other ideas? I have FBLA awards (school, state, regional, and national awards for competitions and community service). I have a few minor Mock Trial awards, and I have been honored by a community service program, but I don’t think that any of those belong in that section. Does anyone have any accredited reference sources about what qualifies?
Maybe this is a more accredited source for you.

You should note that she said competitions, including those related to music, would qualify. I would personally not list NHS, because it is very easy to get inducted.
@PartyNextDoor Thanks. Yeah I would not be listing NHS. My school doesn’t offer it anyways. I don’t think I actually have any other academic awards like those listed in the article other than the Honor/High Honor Roll and FBLA. So this is probably answered for now.
