This may seem like a stupid question, but when a section of an application (for college or a summer program or an internship) says "Academic honors or awards," is it all right to put in awards from speech tournaments and Latin Exam recognition? What about AP tests?
What else would be okay to put in that space?

hmmmm - I would put those kind of speech things in the EC area of the app. Acadmic honors I would include would be 'honor roll,' essay contests, book awards, stuff like that. I think the internship stuff/summer programs go in the 'summer programs' area of the app (if there is one), otherwise I'd throw it in ECs. Ultimately, it's not really a big deal.

Well, if you won an 'award' from a speech competition...that would be an award...
And if you won 'honorable mention' or something of the sort at a Latin exam 'competition'...I would again see that as an award. I couldn't see of winning an Latin Exam award as NOT being an academic honor.
I wouldn't put AP test results there. It would seem pretentious.

If there's no other place to put your AP scores on the application, and you would like the college to know about them, then I don't see anything wrong about putting your AP scores in the Academic Honors section. You can get an award from College Board for getting high enough scores on enough AP tests, after all.

Thanks so much! I'm actually filling out an application for a summer program (I don't have to worry about college apps quite yet, thank goodness!).
