Two questions, for those of you who have been through the Ivy football recruiting process. First, does anyone have any information about whether the number of slots available in each AI band varies by school? In other words, does everyone get x band 1, y band 2, etc? Secondly, are the numbers available in each band calculated on a four year average (like the total # of recruits allowed) or is it a by year determination? Any help in navigating this byzantine process is much appreciated.

Here’s the link to the NY Times article:

It is the single best explanation of the Academic Index and how it is calculated.

A while ago, I posted my guestimate of the band ranges for each of the Ivy schools based on conversations S had with coaches throughout his admission process. I can’t seem to find the post at the moment, but it’s out there.

Best of luck!

Each school gets a different number of athletes within each band.

For example, Harvard two years ago was limited to the following number of recruits in band 1-4: 2, 5, 10, 13.

For Dartmouth, the numbers were: 2, 8, 15, 5.
