Well, someone had an 8 with there SAT stats but I included his AI with his ACT stats b/c they were higher.

Just wonderin, are you guys going by GPA or Class rank. Because ironically, I found out a class rank of 1 out of 204 is less valuable then a weighted 4.3+. This calculator is stupid, it should go by unweighted. If I use gpa instead of class rank I go up 2 more pts- 223 (7)

Changed. And I used my GPA because my school eliminated all ranks, quartiles, deciles, etc. I only know I'm at least top 4% cuz of ELC.

With GPA or with rank I'm 9, but personally, I don't think this makes the bigger difference. Of course, writing I have a 9 does make me feel a little better about myself and my chances though. But everyone else has a 9 here too and those who don't are awesome or got into Yale!!!

Want to factor your SAT Writing score into your AI?

If you think about it, your AI is a matter of converting mean SAT I scores, mean SAT Subject Test scores, and your class rank each to a 20-80 scale and then adding those scores together. Since the AI calculator on CC predates the Writing section, it uses the average of your Critical Reading and Math scores. You may want to drop the final zero from your three SAT subscores, average them, and then add or subtract the difference between that and your CR+M average from the score the CC AI calculator gave you to estimate an updated AI.

Has anyone read that book by the former adofficer from Dartmouth, (A for Admissions, I think), is the index really only used for athletes?

I don't believe that. I think they sort out everyone with this. But they still, I think, read everyone's application.

I'm pretty sure everyone is assigned an academic rating. Whether or not its based on the AI is another story.

For example I know that Princeton rates 1-4, if I remember correctly, etc :P
