I just heard that some, if not all, the Ivies use a system called the Academic Index by which they rank their applicants. It used to be used for only athletes but is now used for students as well. How accurate is it in predicting your chances at Ivy-level colleges?
I've heard that your score changes for the better if you have a GPA instead of rank reported.
Is the AI calculator accurate?
(P.S. I got a 222)

The whole AI system was revealed in Michelle Hernandez’s (a former Dartmouth adcom) book “A is for Admissions” which you may be familiar with. Some ivys use it and some use their own systems so don’t get too caught up with the index. As important as your scores are at ivy-level colleges, in such competitive applicant pools even kids with top-notch stats cannot get in with a score-based academic index alone. It’s the subjective part of your app that will truly define whether you get in. So the AI calculator is good at giving you a rough estimate of how competitive you are stats-wise, but it may not be the best predictor of admissions.

As far as the GPA/rank thing, colleges that use AI will use your rank unless your school doesn’t provide one, and they aren’t going to give one kid a better AI just because the school submitted their GPA not a rank so don’t worry. A 222 is a fine score and I’m sure you’ll get into some good schools, but if you want a better estimate of your chances…post your stats (GPA, SAT/ACT, ECs, etc.)
