Hi CCers. When I was filling the Future Plan part of the Common Application, I put economics. However, during the alumni interview, when asked about an academic interest, I talked about history. Will it be considered a discrepancy? Can it hurt my chances? I simply cannot chill out as 15th is approaching.

I don’t think it will be a big deal as a discrepancy - after all, part of the goal of an interview is to reveal what couldn’t be shown on Common App. I actually made sure to mention things that didn’t fit on Common App and go into detail on EC’s that seemed hollow. Don’t worry about it!

Don’t worry. You won’t be penalized for having more than one interest.

God forbid you like two things! :)

That will in no way have anything to do with your decision. IF (big if) anyone in admissions noticed, they would, as I have, just assume you like that kind of social sciencey thing. They aren’t completely unrelated subjects.

No way can it hurt your chances.
I love English and Cognitive Science. :D

^ and I Physics and Middle Eastern Studies.
The OP’s looking normal here.

linguistics and math!

Political Science and Engineering! Yale shouldn’t care that you have diverse interests, i bet a huge majority of the SCEA applicants do.
