<p>i know service academies really look at the leadership positions youve held, and especially like to see sports related ones. what about positions such as asb positions, or academic leadership (such as captain of my schools debate team, possibly all-american team captain)</p>

<p>are these held in the same light, or are sports just a cut above?</p>

<p>Leadership positions outside sports are also given weight. My son's admissions officer recently told him that he should pursue a school-related leadership position outside his sports. You sound as though you are on the right track.</p>
