After this semester at my college there is a possibility that I may fall under a 2.0 GPA. Long story, but I simply piled to many difficult math courses into 18 units while combining that with working and basically had a horrible semester.

If I fall under a 2.0 GPA what will happen with my Federal Student Aid? I have already filled out my FAFSA for 2014-2015 school year. Will I be eligible for Aid next year?

Schools have to have a satisfactory academic progress (SAP) policy in place for federal aid. It usually consists of a minimum GPA requirement, successful completion of a minimum % of all credit hours attempted, and not going over a maximum number of credit hours.

For instance at my daughter’s school the SAP requirements are a 2.0 cumulative GPA, successful completion of 75% of all classes attempted ever (including any dropped classes) and no more than 180 hours attempted. Not meeting any part of the SAP requirements can lose to loss of eligibility for aid.
