Academic probation or disqualification??

Okay, so this quarter I messed up and did terribly with a 1.3gpa. I'm a sophomore and throughout my freshman year I did well in all my classes and kept above a 3.0 so my cumulative gpa is still fine. Since I got below a 1.5 for one quarter, will I be kicked out? If I'm going to be kicked out can I email my advisor and try not to be disqualified? I'm horrified by my grades and it will honestly never happen again, I just need to know what my options are for next quarter and if there's anything I can do to stay enrolled. Thanks for any help you have!

as long as your overall GPA is above a 2.0, you’ll be fine. they’ll put you on academic probation but you definitely won’t get kicked out.

you might still want to talk to your advisor, though.

ucsd2012:

Unfortunately, your one quarter performance may be enough to get you disqualified.

Here is the policy:
[Academic Standing](http://www.ucsd.edu/current-students/academics/grades/academic-standing.html)

“Subject to disqualification
a.Undergraduates, you are considered subject to academic disqualification from further registration if at the end of any term your GPA for that term is less than 1.5, or if you have completed two successive terms on academic probation without achieving a cumulative GPA of 2.0.”

I would recommend you be proactive in approaching the College Provost and Advisors and make a case using your prior 3.0 + GPA as your defense.
