Academic Probation

Hi,

I go to University of California, Irvine and I have failed 3 courses at my university so far. My cumulative GPA is a 2.27 and I have been asked to submit an appeal letter to continue at UCI. Will I get kicked out? Do I have a chance of still attending this college next fall?

Thanks

Letters of appeal should explain any unusual or extenuating circumstances that contributed to the academic difficulties and failure to abide by academic contract. The letter must detail the student’s actions for effectively addressing these circumstances (including use of campus resources). The Associate Dean of your college will review the student’s appeal letter, transcript, and academic file with the Office of Student Affairs before making a decision. The Associate Dean’s decision is final.

If the appeal is granted, the student will be held to an academic contract outlining the expectations and timeframe for returning to good academic standing. If the appeal is not granted, the student is formally disqualified by the end of the current quarter. Formal disqualification means dismissal from the major and UC Irvine. The student will be restricted from registering for courses or using university services after the effective date. The Registrar’s Office will be instructed to note the effective date of the disqualification on the student’s official transcript. An official letter will be sent to the student’s permanent address.
