Academic Program Question

I applied to UCONN and got accepted into the school. I applied with my 1st choice academic program as engineering. My application status on the page that tells me I am accepted indicates that I am in the ACES program.

Does this mean I will be unable to participate in the engineering program? Is there any way for me to change this? Is it easy to transfer in after your first semester? Are they just not accepting people into certain programs yet? I only assume it is selective to a certain pool of students because my sister applied as well and got into the department she wanted.

I'm a little upset because science and math courses tend to be my biggest strength. I usually get one of the highest scores in the class and I got the highest grade on the midterm of all the sections in chemistry and physics so this news is really foreign to me. :p

So I did a little more research and found some things out but I still do need to know:
If it is realistic to get into the engineering program after your first semester
Do they add/subtract people from the different academic programs before Fall 2012

EDIT: Well nobody answered and I got my questions answered elsewhere.

Closed.
