Academic Record - please help me on this one!

I am applying to a school that I really want to get into (Rutgers)

But I achieved really poor academic performance at the first institution I attended right after high school ( 2004 - 2005). Although, I did pretty well at the second institution I attended from (2005 - 2006).

Is there anyway I can omit the bad spell at my first college? Would Rutgers admission staff be able to trace my records and grades or do they just go by my word?

Please help me out!! I am stressing over this like you would not believe!

Thank you so much!!!!

Questions: What did you do during the 2006-2007 school year? What were the first two colleges? And how badly did you do? That will all make a difference.

And, from the Rutgers website: "Official college transcripts from each college you have attended must include all courses attempted and grades earned through the Priority Application Date."
(found here: http://admissions.rutgers.edu/021404.asp)

I attended Monmouth University (did horrible partly because i missed all classes.) and then i did 1 year at a county college ( I did pretty well)

So I would want to forget I ever went to Monmouth, and just present my community college grades. Is that possible? Is there anyway Rutgers can find out?? I mean do they have access to such information?

Thanks for your reply urichmond!

Ps. where are ya from in NJ ?

No, they will want to see transcripts from any and all colleges that you have attended.

But a good record at the county college will probably overshadow the bad one at Monmouth.

outside of Princeton :P

and to the rest of your questions, I have no idea. I would go over that entire admissions website, especially the transfers section, to see if the answers are there. I imagine that they want to know everything, although I'm not sure if they could/would find out if you didn't.

That's precisely what I want to find out ... whether they can trace my academic record or not. I honestly hope they cannot.

Although, on second thought, I was an FA recipient... shoot! Would that enable Rutgers to unearth my full record??

If you received Stafford (government-subsidized) loans at Monmouth, then they would know because there is a limit on how much aid you can receive.

If you just had grants or your loans were not Stafford loans, then they wouldn't know.

But like was said above, they will likely throw them out anyway--so why take any risk?

I did get a Stafford loan worth $1000 at monmouth :(

So.. would the solution be not to apply for FA at Rutgers?

Just let them see the stupid grades.

I hear ya Ses, but i am afraid that might jeopardized my chances of getting accepted. I know it's unethical, but it is my choice, and I am willing to bear the consequences of my risky actions (if any). I really F...ed up at Monmouth, I wish that time of my life never happened, but of course I cannot just erase it off the records. So I am not going to include it in my application.

If anyone else knows whether admission staff have the ability to check/view previously attended institutions without the applicants knowledge, please let me know!

Thank you very much to all who responded to my plea for help... keep the suggestions coming.

Cheers!
