Hey everyone,

I was wondering, does anyone know if the UCs recognize Academic Renewal? Specifically Berkeley and LA?

Thanks :)

Hey everyone,

I was wondering, does anyone know if the UCs recognize Academic Renewal? Specifically Berkeley and LA?

Thanks :)

i had 2 semesters with some d’s, f’s, and w’s so i had to get an academic renewal. ucla recognized it.

they all recognize it.

however, two years (time could vary depending on your CCC) have to have passed since the deficient grade(s) were received in order for academic renewal to be applicable.

if you don’t want to wait the requisite time, your best bet is to retake the classes, which will also replace the deficient grade.

is it possible to have C grade changed to P/NP?

^ short answer: no

I had a few Ds and Fs, then got academic renewal after taking a few years off from school. I got into both UCLA and Cal. I had a bunch of Ws too.
Keep in mind, you have to do well to show you’ve changed. After coming back to school, I got 17 As and 2 Bs, nothing else.
You will still have to list the classes on your application (they’re still on your transcripts afterall), but you just put “AR” in the box where you would normally put your grade.

^if i repeat/retake a class for a better grade (not academic renewal because i don’t meet the requirements), do I need to list the grades next to the courses then? (would there be an option like “retake”?

dreakol, I had a C changed to a P. I petitioned well after I received the C, you must have relevent information that expresses why you got a C, I had totalled my car and needed to miss substantial classes during the semester, I gave them a letter from my insurance company, attorney, and proof of injury and my C changed to a P and my GPA went up substantially.
