Academic scholarships based more on GPA?

Are there any scholarships which give more money the higher your GPA? I'm planning on going to the University of Kentucky this fall, yet i've received hardly any scholarships. I wasn't able to even apply for their academic scholarships because i needed a min ACT score of 28, and i only scored a 27. Of course i've applied and won a few, yet smaller, scholarships, but i still have quite a lot to pay for. I just graduated with a 4.14 gpa, unweighted 4.0 and 4th in my class, so i feel those 4 years should be worth more than one test. Also, apparently UK is giving more more towards diversity rather than actual academic achievement, pretty sad if you ask me. Is there still a chance i could more money??

kinda late to apply for much this late for fall, you could've retaken the ACT...you might be able to talk to them at the college, sometimes they make exceptions, I've heard...check the scholarship search websites...

I retook it twice, and scored a 27 each time, pretty pathetic i know. I'm not the greatest ACT/SAT test taker apparently. But i haven't heard of exceptions... i should look into that.

the thing about gpa... is some schools make it easier to get above 4.0s while others make it harder....... so i don't think a 4.14 gpa will get u any more scholarships..... if u have done lots of community service and/or leadership... there are scholarships for that.

Are you going to UK this fall? If so, it will be tough to find any scholarships at this point but if you still have a year, I would look into other schools to see what they offer for your 27 ACT combined with the GPA. In Missouri, MSU offers automatic merit scholarships beginning with a 26 ACT...might be a 27. Just a though.

I know what you're saying about the differences in GPA for schools. A school across town gave weighted grades for duel credit college classes, yet ours didn't. I contacted my advisor today and she said that UK is strict on their minimum ACT score, so there wasn't anything i could do there. Kinda sad because my roommate got a full ride with a diversity scholarship for being half-hawaiian, yet didn't even graduate with honors. Oh well, i guess being a white, middle-class male didn't help me much. haha. Thanks anyway. And i played for the high school baseball team for 5 years, so i didn't have much time for other activities/volunteering.
