I automatically qualified for the $2,000/year scholarship. I know one of the requirements is having a 3.6+ gpa.

Does this refer to your academic/weighted gpa or your unweighted gpa? If my cumulative gpa drops below 3.6 this year, will they revoke the scholarship? Right now my academic gpa is a 3.64 and my unweighted gpa is a 3.60. So even if I get like a 3.5 unweighted gpa this semester, it would drop my cumulative unweighted gpa below 3.6...

Generally, once the scholarship is rewarded, they will not revoke it based upon later high school grades. (The only exception is if your admission to Indiana University is revoked based upon poor high school grades.)

There is a requirement to maintain a specific college GPA attached to some of the scholarships, though. Based upon what you said about your scholarship, the only requirement is probably to remain in good standing (2.0 GPA or better).

Great, thanks. Any idea if the scholarships are based on your unweighted GPA or your academic (weighted) GPA? If it's based on my weighted GPA, I might be able to move it up to a 3.7 which would qualify me for a better scholarship.

Also, for anyone else reading this, the academic scholarships actually require you to maintain a 3.0 GPA at IU.

Thanks for the info on the minimum required GPA for academic scholarship retention.

I'm not sure about the GPA requirement (whether it is based upon weighted or unweighted)--but I'm guessing that since admission is based upon weighted GPA, then probably the academic scholarships are also. Maybe someone else who has one of these could shed more light on the subject. (The scholarships rules have changed since my son was a freshman.)

My son received a $1,000 scholarship--but his was not based upon maintaining any particular GPA while in high school--although he does have to maintain a 3.0 GPA (same as you) to retain it for the next couple of years.

Is there any way a current freshman (OOS) can apply for scholarships based on their performance at IU? e.g. my son obtained a 3.86 first semester...Would applying to Hutton make him eligible for some scholarship money?

jcarol, He can apply for Indiana University Foundation scholarships, of which there are a great number. Most can be applied for using one application. My son received $500 for his sophomore year and $1000 for his junior year. There are different criteria for each one.
