Finally…at last…my daughter received her notification of her Heritage Scholarship. Whew…the postal service was really making us sweat down here in Florida. WDE!

Just got back into town and found the certificate for the Heritage Scholarship and the Talons Day invite.

auskip & Grcxx3 - Congratulations on the Heritage Scholarship. Keep in mind, many departments at Auburn University also offer Departmental Scholarships too which add to your Heritage Scholarship. You must apply separately for those scholarships. For example, here’s the link for College of Science and Mathematics (COSAM) . Their date is January 15th.
Thanks MetroAtlantaDad. With the Heritage Scholarship my daughter will definitely be going to Auburn. We won’t be going to Talons Day since she is already pretty familiar with Auburn and we’ll be going up in March for an audition for the music school.

I’m curious…all of you who have received a scholarship, will you attending Auburn?

While it would be nice to “follow the money” - the chances of my son attending are pretty slim. They don’t have the program he wants (few schools do) and his “alternative plan” evidently won’t work. We were told by admissions folks that he could take Architecture courses as an Engr student, but the Arch people recently told us that only Arch students are allowed in the courses. So that’s pretty much a bust for him.

Yes, the architecture department has a sequential sequence that would make it hard to jump in and take some classes. They also have another admissions = they send it out in late January to anyone that put architecture as their major. Then in mid-February they notify the applicant if they are admitted to the Fall/Spring group of 30 which have basically earned the right to be in Architecture or if they will be in the 60 group which will do the design sequence after their Freshman year and have to earn one of the additional 30 spots so that the Sophomore class is roughly 60 students.

Yeah - I think the inability of him to take Arch classes is going to kill it for him. Unfortunate because I think he would really like Auburn. And I certainly like the scholarship money!!!

D received her TALONS day invite the day before the Scholorship award came. She received the Charter Scholarship. (To answer an earlier question - yes, Charter’s are invited to TALONS).

What I didn’t read anywhere was a mention of OOS waiver. She received a similar scholarship to another University - but that Scholarship notification included a OOS waiver.

Does anyone know if Auburn even offers these?

As far as we can tell - Charter is 1/2 of regular in-state tutition, Heritage is 2/3 of regular in-state tutition.

My son’s letter for the Heritage says it covers “2/3 of non-resident tuition and fees for four years.”

I’m not positive I’ll be going to Auburn but with the scholarship it is a strong possibility, at the very least. I think Talons Day will help me make up my mind.

Heritage is 2/3 out of state tuition, not in state.

charthelatte, the scholarships are different for in-state/out of state.

In State

Charter - 1/2 IS Tuition
Heritage - 2/3 IS Tuition

Out of state

Charter - 1/3 OOS Tuition
Heritage - 2/3 OOS Tuition

The rewards are higher for OOS recipients, but In state applicants still pay less.

Hm - now I’m REALLY confused.

D’s letter for the Charter is a specific amount - $3,500 / year. Looking this up on their web site it = 1/2 of IN-State tution - leaving us to pay for the other 1/2 of regular tuition + all OOS fees.

I guess I need to call and find out for sure. Not that I don’t trust anyone on here - but I find the infromation very confusing to follow. I guess it is possible that they made a mistake and sent her the In-state offer letter?

SOunds like there must have been a mixup. Definitely worth a call to find out.

If you are out of state does the presidential cover all costs for tuition and fees? I am confused about the instate vs. out of state difference on the presidential.
