Academic Suspension After First Quarter

So I began school this summer and took two classes. I have always struggled with math and unfortunately failed my math while receiving a b in psychology. I received an email today stating I am on academic suspension, I don't know what to do! I did not realize that they would suspend, just that I would need to raise my GPA and be put on probation! I am so worried about not being able to go to school, I am a single mom so paying out of pocket is def not an option! What can I do? I have been laying in bed all night stressing :( I am headed to the school to meet w an advisor today.

You should confirm that this is truly a suspension, as opposed to probation. I find it hard to believe that a student in their first session would be suspended for failing one class and doing well in one other.

Could it be suspension of financial aid? I know that most schools require a minimum GPA to maintain aid, usually something like 2.0, and your GPA is currently in the neighborhood of 1.0 . Even so, I would still expect you to be on probation for financial aid, as opposed to losing it.

Hopefully your advisor will clear this up. Sometimes students are prevented from further enrollment or aid until they meet with an advisor who will develop a plan to improve grades before the enrollment block is lifted.
