To whom it may concern,
My name is XXXXX I'm writing to you in hopes of an appeal of my academic suspension. I want to first start off by saying that I was deeply sadden by this news, but take full responsibility for my actions. My career at Framingham State University has not been a typical one. During my sophomore year my father's diagnosis of brain cancer had taken him on a turn for the worst and he later passed away in 2011. My fathers passing immensely affected me and because of that my grades slowly began to suffer. As I tried to move past this difficult time I found myself losing interest in activities I once loved, and not being able to sleep at night. I was later diagnosed with depression, anxiety, and insomnia during spring semester of 2013. I was trying to maintain my grades on top of working long hours during the week, and quickly started to lose control. During fall semester of 2013 I was raped by a friend, and unfortunately found myself dealing with another traumatizing situation. I was too ashamed and embarrassed to tell anyone what happened to me so I kept everything to myself.

I now see that trying to tackle all these set backs on my own was not in my best interest at all. I am currently trying to change that and began talking to someone about the problems that I have faced. If I were to be given a second chance and reinstated for next semester I know I would be able to dramatically Improve my GPA. I have come up with a plan to help improve my GPA, along with myself. The first step in my plan is to retake the courses I have done poorly in during the summer. I then plan to stop working during the week, and only work a few hours on the weekend. My last and most important step is to seek help at CASA, and the counseling center to keep my life on track. My father was so proud of me when I got accepted into FSU. I am willing to work extremely hard to improve my grades and to continue my education. If I were to be reinstated I will go above and beyond to prove myself and show my true potential. Thank you for taking the time to read my letter.

Sincerely,
XXXXX
