Academic Warning/Probation

Long story short, I had a pretty rough first semester of college as a freshmen. Couple bad study habits from being your cliché “I got A’s with no problem in HS” student along with depression and debilitating vision complications that started earlier this year and affect my every day life.

I have three D’s and one B-. I’m working hard to change that and finals are coming up but I feel like it’s too late. My GPA will likely range between 1.3 and 1.8 and my school puts first time undergraduates on academic warning for scoring below 2.0 and then probation after that. My schools FAFSA SAP requires a 2.0 GPA as well but I can’t find anything on probation or warning and fear I will lose my aid.

I’m already working on improving my study habits and plan on doing a lot better my second semester and as my depression and coping with vision issues has gotten better. But I feel like I already screwed up. Even if I do good next semester will my aid be revoked. Because if so, I don’t even know I just want to be prepared.

Please visit your financial aid office immediately to find out about probation and warning. The policies are different at every school. Best wishes.

It isn’t too late to improve your grades. Just as a poor final exam performance can lower your grade, a good showing could transform some of those Ds to Cs.
