Academic Year

when do the classes actually start? As soon as indoc is over do we go straight into classes or what?

No they give us a three-day vacation in between to get ready to transition into college life...ha ha :D

what do you exactly do during those three days?

uh. Tinky dinky was pulling somebody's chain. You will go directly into classes. Your first 'real' break is Acceptance weekend. Enjoy these last few days. SLEEP & EAT. And watch tv. :)

Happy 4th!!

For more detail, take a look at the Regimental Calendar 2006-2007.

Go to

and click on RegCal 2006-07 which is on the left side near the top.

Check out what is scheduled from July 21 to July 26 when classes begin. It looks busy.

haha if you think you get a vacation, you are dead wrong. there will be plenty of **** for you to do. trust me on that

we actually do get about three days and 2010 wont get a second of rest those days. the CTO takes control of them and they get their computers and what not and its almost worse than indoc cause the CTO goes nuts

What does "CTO" mean?

company training officer, he takes charge after the DI's and controls the kids until Christmas. hes basically there to make the kids lives worse than indoc and he'll pt the kids as much as possible

Looking ahead to Academic Year, do any midshipmen or parents find the "Rate my Professor" website useful?
My daughter, who attends a private college, uses it to assist in her class selection. She tries to avoid "no-win" professors, although she is not afraid of them just because some students think they are "hard."
However, do Kings Point midshipmen have any say-so at all in professor selection, or if it's just the luck of the draw?
The Kings Point website is at

http://www.ratemyprofessors.com/SelectTeacher.jsp?sid=1052

You have to join (for free) to see all the ratings and comments.

luck of the draw for the most part. if your kid is a systems engineer, when they choose their minor they will know who teaches each one but thats about as close to knowing who your professor will be as it gets

I'll be going to the U of Illinois, and I have been using it to help me pick classes. I was going to take microecon, but ratemyprofs threw up a huuuge red flag on the prof, so I checked with some current students and the guy is kinda infamous. I'll be taking History of Africa instead :)

I read some of the reviews for KP. Got my smile for the day cause I know some of the names & reputations. Taff, good thing you had this handy little tool. Might save you some grief. When do you start? Working on your ap for next year to WP or do you know if you'll go that route yet? Ya shoulda went big box boat guy though! Sigh... ;)

I have applications opened for USMA, USNA, USAFA, and I might just open up a CGA app... I just checked and they saved the application, all i have to do is resubmit the supplemental pages.

Even though he didn't get to pick his professors, there are some very helpful comments about my son's professors on Rate my Professor. Basically, the midshipmen explain how best to succeed in each professor's class.
