Academics at UCSC?

I was just wondering how grad schools and employers look at someone coming from UCSC. Does it really make that much of a difference between someone applying who has A's at another UC and A's at Santa Cruz? I know the competition these days is extremely tough and I want to know that I have a good enough shot compared to kids from other UCs if I try equally as hard. Basically, does the name of the university make that much of a difference? And I'm asking this because I want to go to UCSC for several reasons but my parents think that's it would be more "beneficial" for getting a job in the future if I went to CC and ultimately ended up at Berkeley. I would just like to disprove that theory =)

And if anybody has graduated from UCSC and applied for jobs or to grad school that would be helpful to hear about :D

yea… i’m debating the same thing because graduating from Berkeley does give a good first impression, but after that it just depends on how much you learned/experienced during college. Really don’t know whether to just go to CC at De Anza or go to UCSC. Also, is money an issue because I’m sort of leaning to CC now since loans may be a problem and you should take that into consideration too.

I’ve not yet had a single company ask for my GPA.
So far, my impression is that UCSC stands up very well to Berkeley because we are the other UC within reach of the bay area, so companies tend to recruit in-person from both. That right there is already a big boost. I’ve never heard that they favor one or the other.
