I know UT has a better academic reputation in general, but is there really a discernable difference in terms of academically preparing students for the MCAT/med school? Does UT really offer a better education in the natural sciences? I like Baylor because it’s smaller and has smaller class sizes, but I don’t want to compromise my education.
Also, does anyone know which school offers better internship opportunities?
One way to look at it: If you like Baylor better, you may do better there academically, which will help you get accepted to med school. (FWIW, both have med schools located in Houston, I believe.)
If you like Baylor better and feel you will succeed better in the smaller classes (and you can afford Baylor) then IMO you answered your own question. Fit is an important part of the college decision process.
I completely agree with @happy1. If you learn better in a smaller classroom/more intimate learning environment, Baylor may be the better choice here. UT-Austin is just slightly better than Baylor, but nothing significant. You will succeed at either one of these schools no matter which one you decide to go to.
