[Admissions - Meet the Class of 2015](<a href=“Elon University / Undergraduate Admissions”>Elon University / Undergraduate Admissions)

Class of 2015
High School GPA, mid 50% range: 3.4-4.4
SAT, mid 50% range: 1720-1960 (Critical Reading, Math and Writing sections)

Oh okay thanks.

When Elon quotes GPA, it’s a weighted GPA. Their weighting system gives a 4.0 for an A in a college-prep course, a 5.0 for an A in an honors course, and a 6.0 for an A in an AP course. Compare your GPA accordingly.

Oh okay , I wasn’t aware of that. Thanks

Does the admissions office recalculate every applicant’s GPA with that method?

I believe they do. That’s pretty standard at most colleges, to re-calculate a GPA using their own method. Also if they do it for some kids they have to do it for all kids.

Does anyone know anything about the independent major ? I’m thinking of doing something in forensics like forensic psychology. I know their psychology program does have some law and psych classes.

About the weighting – if a hs has 4 levels of classes… AP, accelerated, honors, and college prep, from highest to lowest, would they still weight an honors A as a 5.0? If so, what would an accelerated A be? A 5.5?

^^great question to contact your state’s admissions officer about; and introduce yourself while you are at it; kills two birds with one stone!!
