I am applying to a rigorous boarding prep school, and I was just wondering if the academics are hard to keep up with. If they are, could somebody tell me how to keep up with the coursework. Thanks!

The academics at boarding schools certainly are very challenging, but with careful course selection and time management you can keep up with them without much stress. When you are in the course selection process, make sure you are not overloading your schedule, especially in your first year. I would say that you should make sure you have at least one free period because that really lightens your load and gives you extra time for homework. This is especially important in your freshman year because you are just starting to adjust to a heavier workload and are trying to make new friends. Freshman year is the time to open up and find friends, not be loaded down with seven or more classes. Time management is probably the most crucial element in making sure that you keep up with your work. A lot of schools implement set study hours in the evening, but if your school does not have those, it is incredibly important that you establish them for yourself. Once they have been set, you will fall into a rhythm and make studying and doing homework for however many hours a night a habit that will benefit you all through college. Last bit of advice, do NOT procrastinate! I began to stop procrastinating during my freshman year and it was the best decision I have ever made.
