Do you ever feel like your academics suffer because of all of your other athletic/military commitments…I guess what I mean is do you feel as though you are not able to really absorb the material because of the enormous time pressures you are under?

There are definitely times where I feel that way...that because of the stress and additional duties I can't do as well as I could, but as long as you manage your time well and get ahead when it's not tough, you'll be fine on those days where it's too tough to work.

"but that's the point of this place."-- well said. I just want to make sure that I came here I would be equally educated in my field compared to someone at a civilian college.

Yup. I could be an active observer right now (but chose not to for time reasons). We are offered 499 level courses in all majors both junior and senior years. I am hoping to go to Los Alamos labs between junior and senior year then come back with the research project I jump on and continue it senior year. Then, we are able to publish, yes publish, our senior year.

Did I miss something? looks at confetti Oh, nice...

On a serious note, nearly every major has a "capstone" project of some sort. For example, for any major remotely based in engineering, you could work on a building an all-terrain dune buggy. Every major (to my knowledge) has this capstone project attached to it, which could mean research, building, or something along those lines.
