The Board decided that since there was “not a big difference” in scores on the SRI (??) and DRP (degrees of reading power) tests between honors and academic students that all students should learn together. However, many students, including my own, have a combination of honors and academic classes. So, I feel they should have looked at three groups of students - all honors, all academic and those with mixed courses. Some of the highest scores in academic scores might have come from those students who are also taking honors courses. The Board did agree that there is a wide range of reading abilities, and one member did question whether the slower readers would be able to “keep up.” Does anyone have any data about an SRI test? What does it measure?
