That game was FUN. State made an excellent competitor!

Go Heels! ACC CHAMPS (and hopefully a top seed...)

I know State is probably out; but they deserve a slot if only for four days of killer performances.

BTW...The #1 ranked UNC baseball team is off to a good start. We'll have to keep our Tar Heel flag up until through the summer it appears!

So the NCAA tourney starts tomorrow! I got UNC over UCLA in the championship game. (Oregon and Ohio State as the other final four teams)

BTW, UNC plays at 9:40 PM (Eastern) tomorrow on CBS.

Woo go heels!

Texas will beat UNC. Book it

Assuming Texas makes it to the sweet 16..

I live in Tampa and went to the UNC vs. BC game.... it was FUN

After having led by about 15, you guys are now up by 6 over a 16 seed. We shall see how long that lasts, because I doubt it will be for long.

....we're up by 23 now.

yeah okay thanks.

Hehe Palmettoman Texas looks like they will be creamed by USC!

Guys I meant football-yeah right. Props to Southern Cal. Will now support the ACC's last Mohican.

i'm in shock....how the hell did unc lose... :(

it's so depressing, we should have won this game.

We were not playing well near the end... It was so frustrating how clumsy we were. I'm very sad now. Very sad.

1/23 on FG attempts in the last 15 or so minutes.. We gave it to them.

how about that georgetown player who dunked the ball in the final seconds...classless and childish. its common knowledge that you do NOT dunk when your team is clearly going to win. i've lost all respect for georgetown.

they should take some lessons from brandan wright on good sportsmanship (aka when b-wright decided not to take a shot in the final seconds against USC when he clearly had the opportunity)

next year......next year.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking then, but I've always wondered if 'going easy' on a team in itself is kind of poor sportsmanship, you know? Like, it could be misconstrued as patronizing. I totally get what you're saying, but in the back of my mind that question keeps popping up. I'm way open to any criticism/schooling here :).

yeah i see what you're saying. but theres a way to not make it patronizing, like running the clock down or simply giving the ball up like b-wright did. i see patronizing as more like..i dunno..all the players of the winning team standing outside the arc and just passing the ball in a circle and making the losing team's players run back and forth like idiots or something. i think when a player fights the urge to rub it in, it shows maturity, not 'going easy'.

Yeah. The classiest way to end it is to stand there holding the ball and with like a second left just hand the ball to the ref and walk off.

Basketball etiquette that is observed by all coaches dictates you do NOT dunk or run the score up in the last seconds when the outcome is clear. Georgetown showed extremely poor sportsmanship in the last seconds of the game. Furthermore, if the officials had not decided to take the game from Vandy by not calling a travel on the final 2 points that won GT that game, Georgetown would not even be in the Elite Eight. The classiest person in the whole tournament was the Vandy coach who declined to criticize the officiating despite Vandy clearly being the victim of three very obviously bad calls. (He was probably screaming behind the closed doors of his office though...lol!)

Also, another basketball etiquette tidbit..... when the losing coach pulls his starters (conceding the game), the winning coach then pulls his starters (referencing the Duke game where Hansbrough was assaulted after which Coach K criticized Coach Roy for having Hansbrough still in the game.) The onus is on the losing coach to pull starters first, which Coach K did not do.

I think the game would have been completely different if Tyler had not been injured. He is a great player who, understandably, has had a tough time playing with the broken nose (mask on and mask off). Don't know that I could get in there and get physical in the paint if I had the same injuries.

Idmom, don't forget Ty Lawson made a similar play in the ACC Championship game (actually with even less time remaining). So to some degree, this is kind of the pot calling the kettle black...

Also, your comment about the onus being on the losing coach to remove his starters first is just plain inaccurate (although the whole concept doesn't even apply to UNC-Duke, as coach K well knows, because the game was still fairly close at that point).

i agree luxlibertas--ty lawson shouldnt have done that. it disappointed me. but then again...lawson isnt exactly a mature person, now is he? out of all the starters, he seems to be the cockiest and least ready for the nba. not my favorite player at all....
