Currently at Austin community college, gpa will be a 3.1 at the end of this semester, and and a 3.5/3.6 by the end of spring, with 54-60 credit hours. Will I have a chance to get into the school of communications for next fall? Quite a bit of volunteer work, can do more extra curricular if need. Do I even have a real shot?

While i am no way asscoiated with admissions…I have had a bit of experience with the admissions process and I have done countless hours of research on the subject. For fall 2012 admission they will only take your grades up to the end of this fall semester. If you get denied and want to appeal then you send ur spring transcripts, but I haven’t seen very many appeals succeed although u never know. With that said, ur GPA is low especially for the college of communication. They usually say that a 3.2 is the cutoff for serious consideration. My suggestion if ur applying for spring or fall transfer would be to apply to COLA and if you get in, internally transfer. But even for COLA ur GPA is pretty low. I honestly don’t mean to be harsh, I was in your exact position one year ago and I am STILL applying for the chance to transfer. Don’t give up hope. Who knows if you have some wicked essays and the rest of your application is impeccable, then you might get in!

yikes:/ What are you majoring in? Okay, my school offers two week winter mester courses, and so I would have those in by early january. If I was able to bump my gpa to 3.3/3.4, would I have a chance for next fall, in either the school of liberal arts, or communications? ALSO, could I ask you another question through private message?

wishful1234. Gabbybelzer is right, your gpa is kind of low even for Cola, however, anything is possible. I got in with a 3.5 30hr. Try your hardest to get up to the 3.5 and higher if you can. Do your best. Nice to see your still on here gabbybelzer. Good luck guys…:)
