Accelerated Dental or Other options?

Hi everyone,

I was wondering what my odds are at getting into an accelerated dental program (I live in NY, so there is Stony Brook and Buffalo, but I am also looking for nearby out of state schools). I am an 11th grader in a competitive school.

I have an unweighted 3.5 GPA, (weighted probably 4.15), do ECs like Spanish Honor Society, volunteering at the hospital, shadowing a dentist and oral surgeon, Tri M Music honor society, Students Taking Action for Tomorrows Environment, and I volunteered at the local aquarium for 2 summers. Also, I play tennis for the school team and have been playing oboe since 4th grade.

I have taken Chemistry (780 on SAT 2), Biology (740 on SAT 2), AP Physics, AP Stats, AP BC Calc, AP World, AP us, and am planning to take AP chem and bio next year. Also my highest (practice score, i havent taken the real SAT yet, planning to in January) SAT score is a 2280, and I havent taken the ACT yet either.

I am definitely looking into Dental, but I'm not restricting myself to just dental. Any ideas on reach/safety/match schools in my area, and what else I can do to better my odds?

Zobroward, thanks for your response but that school is in Florida and that seems a bit too far away from me. Any other ideas? I dont think my parents want me going that far

NYU has a 7 year dental program. I’m not sure of the exact requirements of getting in. I didn’t get into the program but got accepted to NYU. I also applied to University of the Pacific’s 5 year dental program and got in, and that program is extremely competitive to get into, let alone the 5 year track.

joint program with u of penn.

Bump!
Also, just a correction: my gpa is a 3.8. I have also performed research with stem cells at SB dental school, and shadowed oral surgeon, orthodontist, general dentist, and pediatric dentist (100+ hrs). Sat 2230, 800 physics, math 790 chem 760 bio all 5s on APs except history

Even my gpa is not good, I think, I should prepare for one more year. I also discuss with my family dentist about it and they suggested me the same. https://plus.google.com/104093172817479331093/.
