Accelerated Med Program Chances

Hey everyone! I'm an IB student and I'll be entering senior year so it's application season for me. I've been looking at a lot of 7/8 year medical programs and I just want to know what my chances are of actually making it into them or if it's a good idea to even join them. If I could get some pros and cons I'd be grateful.

Although my standardized tests aren't nearly as great as I'd want them to be, here's what I have as of now.

If you need to know anything else please let me know. I appreciate any advice and information I could be given in regards to the accelerated medical program, my chances, and why I should or shouldn't join. I know I'm asking a lot, but I'm having trouble deciding. I live in Florida btw. I really want to get out of state but worst case scenario I'll settle for in state. I already looked at UF and I don't want a program that I apply to after two years. I'm looking for something that you apply to and you're in from the start. Thanks again anyone who decides to help!

Your ACT and SAT scores are low for those accelerated med programs which are very competitive. Can you explain those scores given your high GPA and academic rigor?

I don’t really know. I’m as shocked as you prob are. I’ve taken the sat twice 1800 to 2010. Act twice, my second time I got a 29. I must just be bad at these tests.

Not sure Middle School information applies on college apps, unless your middle school went through 9th grade.

Oh okay. I figured the app wanted any kind of awards/recognition since middle

@AumDaIndy: Time to be brutally honest. You’ve taken loads of AP and IB classes but your scores on several of the exams were crappy (Lang, Gov, Lit). What were your corresponding marks for these classes? If you didn’t get A’s then you will be seen as someone who bit off more than she/he could chew.

SAT scores are low (esp writing and reading). Why no research/lab experience?

@sgopal2‌: English is my weaker subject so that’ll explain the low scores. Gov I took online but I was expecting a 4. I got As in all those classes. I got a B in Lang one semester however, 89. Also, in both classes all we did were essays, which I always got 7+ on. We did multiple choice once in each class right before the exam. Since English is my weaker subject that wasn’t really enough with the teacher to feel good. We took these MC over the course of two days before the exam. So, I’m sure that was my weak spot in both. I walked out of both exams feeling 7+ on all essays but questionable on my multiple choice performance. My parents and I found out about the whole med program thing as of 5-6 months ago so that’ll explain why I haven’t done any research/lab type stuff. My town is also very small and doesn’t have many opportunities for things like that. I plan on doing my Chem IA for IB on a medical related subject so that’ll be some medical research at least. And yeah, I know my scores are low. I’m hoping for a 34+ on on one of the future ACTs I’m taking. I plan on thoroughly studying this time though.

Why do you want to go to med school?

A bunch of reasons. For one, I’m really interested in biology, anatomy, chemistry (essentially all the sciences). I wanna do bacterial and Viral research at some point of my medial career. I’m sure I’ll figure out more specific stuff later. Additionally, my cousins and I (most already through med school) have planned to get together and open a center that has various practices. So a family can go here and visit a dentist, neurologist, cardiologist, etc all in one center. We all are heading towards different practices and I think the center idea would be a cool and efficient way of increasing the comfort of people’s lives.

What if I bumped my act to 34 and my math and chem were 740+? What are my chances then?
