I also shadowed Stanford medical students for 4 weeks at a free clinic and I am planning to volunteer at a hospice care place.

I want to know if I should even bother applying to Medical Programs (ie SD, Brown, Northwestern) & what my chances are. I would appreciate it if you could elaborate on your answers (why? What are my weaknesses?). Anything would help!!

Hi! I’m also thinking of applying to med programs. But, I would do some research in a lab. Northwestern especially looks for not only volunteering but actual research

UCSD: Reach
Brown PLME: Reach
NWU HPME: Reach

Maybe Stony Brook, UIC (if an Illinois resident), Penn State, GWU or Lehigh would be appropriate, too…

Based on my other stats, do you think I should even apply to Northwestern though? I know it’s REALLY difficult to get in and I don’t want to waste money applying to harder programs if there isn’t even a chance. Also, where did you do research? I have been looking into such opportunities but I haven’t been able to find any. I live in NorCal btw. And thanks so much for your reply!

Well you have the shadowing and volunteering in healthcare down. And hands down you will get into their undergrad program. I did research at a hospital. It might be a little late now though for you to get any :/. If you dont do research, i think NW is probably out, but ask other people and your counselors before you completely give it up!
Chance me back pleease!
