Accelerated medical programs?

Can anybody tell me what the average GPA (unweighted and weighted) SAT scores, and ACT scores are to get into the accelerated medical programs of Boston University and Lehigh University?

Also, would it be a problem that I am taking AP AB Calculus instead of AP BC Calculus?

Also, would there be any issue that i took AP Bio and Chemistry as a senior? I don’t have any AP or subject tests for these two, I assume to be, important courses

Students admitted to the BU program are usually cross admits to the Ivies.

Yes you might. See http://www.bumc.bu.edu/busm/admissions/application-process/requirements/

@4kidsdad What about Lehigh?

I assuming SAT score is 1360 out of 1600 (M+CR)

Unless you have some hook, admits to BS/MD programs are often students with elite school stats.

The basic idea behind BS/MD admits is that schools are accepting students that are so strong that the school can safely assume that the students would have gotten admitted to their MD programs if they applied the traditional route.

I don’t know what your stats are, so this may not apply to you, but we often see posts about BS/MD programs from students who have good/very good stats (say…ACT 30-33 range) and high GPAs. These students are really just hoping to bypass the traditional admit process and perhaps avoiding the MCAT or stressing about a high MCAT score.

But…and this is important …without a hook, the BS/MD programs really don’t have the confidence that an ACT 30-33 student would be a likely certain admit if applying the traditional route.

And, as “sort of” suggested in post #2, BS/MD programs admit very high stats students in hopes of poaching them away from ivies/elites.

@4kidsdad, that’s referring to traditional applicants using AP credit instead of taking courses at college. OP taking AP bio and chem in high school and then either repeating the intro courses or taking more advanced courses will be no issue at all.

@4kidsdad Many people get that confused.

For instance, an English major, can’t just use his AP Bio, Chem and Physics credits, take Ochem and BioChem and call it a day. He/she needs to take the next higher level.

My son did use his AP Calc, Bio and AP Chem, but because he was a ChemE major with minors in Bio, Chem and Math, he had plenty of “next higher” courses.
